Job Vacancy: Sales Officer

Our client, a small but fast growing player in the dairy industry based in Eldoret, is looking for a Sales Officer to be based in Nairobi, with regular visits to Eldoret.
The sales officer will grow the business and ensure that sales targets are achieved.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promoting, selling and securing orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Making telephone calls, email correspondences, in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Demonstrating products (cheeses, fermented milk) and services to existing/ potential customers and assisting them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/ market segment to generate new business.
  • Researching sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
  • Developing an internet penetration and social media strategy for business development.
  • Developing clear and effective written proposals/ quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Coordinating sales efforts with management, production, accounting, logistics and technical service groups; this also includes a stringent sales budgeting process.
  • Oral and written reports to management on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Participating in trade shows, exhibitions and conventions.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in sales. Experience in the food processing sector will be an added advantage.
  • Possession of a post-secondary degree in Marketing or Public Relations.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers (consultative sales approach).
  • Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
  • Valid driver’s license.
