Technical Training Institute Principal Job in Nairobi Kenya

Job title: Principal
Reports to: Board of Directors
Location: Nairobi
Our client, a technical training institute is looking for a principal for their college, they train young people annually in the areas like Building & Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Electrical Engineering, Beauty & Hairdressing and Hospitality.
This number will be gradually be achieved after the refurbishment of the entire institution.
The long term plan is to establish a university.
Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the transitioning of the current Institute to the Board vision
  • Ensure registration and accreditation of the University with legal authorities
  • Promote and facilitate the innovation and enhancement of the curriculum to ensure it delivers an outstanding range of education and training opportunities.
  • Provide support and be responsible for the recruitment of school personnel and faculty to run the maiden programs.
  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students by ensuring the faculty offers education that is practical/applied, problem-based, and student-centred.
  • Maintain positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with staff, parents while communicating with the Board regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the school.
  • Ensure that high quality standards are set and achieved for all programmes and promote practices that support learners.
  • Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes (teaching, as duties allow) on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and students growth and development
  • Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment, approving all recommendations.
  • Ensure evaluation of staff and quality of education, training and services and respond to student’s feedback.
  • Ensure there is proper and effective operation of financial planning and management controls
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s Degree level qualification and / or Degree Level Certification with at least 5 years’ experience in education management of a technical Institute.
  • Evidence of training with leadership focus.
  • Evidence of entrepreneurial skills required in managing a technical institution.
