Intrahealth Afya Elimu Fund Technical Manager Job in Kenya
The goal of HRH Kenya project is to strengthen Human Resources for Health systems in Kenya both at the National and County levels and ultimately improve health outcomes for the Kenyan people.
In order to strengthen its team, the project is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following position:
Technical Manager Afya Elimu Fund (AEF)
The Technical Manager AEF will lead and manage the Afya Elimu Fund (AEF), diversify its funding sources to support more needy students through loans, strengthen the governance structure of the fund and support HELB and training institutions to establish mechanisms to track AEF beneficiaries post training to accelerate AEF loans recoveries for sustainability
Lead the Afya Elimu Fund to develop governance (strategic plan etc) and operations structure for sustainability.
Monitor the AEF processes and develop appropriate strategies to address identified issues.
Lead the development of the AEF publicity materials and creation of awareness among diverse stakeholders that include; students, medical training colleges, current and potential funders and employers among others.
Lead AEF monitoring activities in liaison with HRH Kenya Finance and M&E and in collaboration with HELB and MTC to ensure AEF student’s database is updated and ready for tracking students’ loans at HELB.
In collaboration with HELB and Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC) lead and coordinate system support in data and student management information system (SMIS) for AEF to attain operational efficiency.
Spearhead resource mobilization to increase AEF kitty from the private sector and county governments.
Lead and coordinate AEF reporting to various stakeholders that include; donor, government of Kenya through MOH, contributors and training institutions among others.
Document the AEF as a best practice and lesson learnt through development of relevant technical briefs and abstracts for conferences.
Education and Experience
A Master’s Degree in education, organizational development, MPH, MBA or a related field of study
Understanding of the organization of the health sector in Kenya and medical education is required.
Prior experience supporting national MOH, county governments and medical training institutions to develop policies and guidelines is desired.
Experience with results in resource mobilization from; private sector and county government among others.
Excellent communication, coordination and inter personnel skills to engage a wide and diverse group of stakeholders
At least 5 years’ experience in a managerial function.
