Nairobi Hospital Pharmacist Job in Kenya

The successful candidates will effectively add value by enabling excellent patient care and shaping the best clinical and non-clinical practice.
Reporting to the Senior Pharmacist, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following amongst others:
Checking prescriptions for accuracy and suitability and to contact the prescribing doctors to resolve any prescribing problems ensuring safe, economical and rational use of drugs and other pharmaceutical products.
Ensuring proper preparation and labeling of extemporaneous preparations for in/outpatients and solutions for the wards.
Checking the expiry dates of pharmacy drugs and making sure that the short expiry drugs are returned back to the store in compliance with the Short Expiry Drug Policy.
Contacting prescribing doctors where necessary to resolve any queries regarding safe, economical and rational use of drugs and other pharmaceutical products.
Providing comprehensive and accurate drug information to patients and prescribing doctors.
Carrying out clinical ward rounds and checking treatment sheets for suitability of treatments, drug interactions, dosing accuracies and ensuring that all prescribed doses are given as required.
Safeguarding pharmacy stocks and participating in stock takes.
Implementing high standards of drug storage, usage, cost effectiveness and ensure cleanliness of the medicine storage areas within the assigned unit.
Act as shift-in-charge of a pharmacy unit.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
Valid annual practising license
Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Exemplary customer service.
1 year experience
