Network Administrator Vacancy in Nairobi Kenya

Job Title: Network Administrator
Location: Nairobi
Role: Serve as the Administrator for alarms, intrusion detection, alarm annunciation / command and control subsystem, sensors, and closed circuit television cameras (interior and exterior).
The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation / configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware and software and related infrastructure.
The individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain the enterprise security infrastructure
  • Complete or assist in installation hardware design and software programming using established standards.
  • Provides detailed information to communicate design and operation to the client and subcontractors.
  • Evaluates and performs planning, testing, and implementation of software and hardware upgrades
  • Ensure the main and back-up servers are running the Access Control System and Smart Employee
  • Identification Card (EID) System.
  • Perform all programming related to new client sites added to Customer’s Lenel Access Control System.
  • Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions, and coordinates with vendor’s intervention as necessary.
  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.
  • Determine network and system requirements, maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security and ensure network connectivity throughout a company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
  • Implement firewall solutions to properly secure data and provide consultation on all new firewall implementations, firewall configuration changes, and projects requiring security operational support
  • Collects and maintains full network diagram, and maintain as built designs per current site, as well as for future expansion sites.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and direct technical application support to system end users.
  • Provide on-site and off-site maintenance, adjustments, and minor repairs of the Security System (Closed-Circuit Television, Intrusion Detection Systems, and Access Control Systems), computer equipment, communication transmission equipment, IDS sensors, video equipment, and support equipment
  • Provides status reports to R&D Manager and Project Leads.
  • Maintains open line of communication with field operators, including surveys to determine needs and/or continual improvements in relation to the network and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Degree in IT or Computer Science
  • 3+ years’ experience as a network administrator
  • Be CCNA, CCIE  or CISCO certified
  • Proven experience and success with enterprise level LAN, WAN and WLAN engineering, design and implementation
  • Proven ability to engineer routers, hubs, switches and access points.
  • Requires detailed knowledge of all hardware and software operating systems, to include maintenance of all systems, linked sensors, system configurations from front-end to end users.
  • Experience in Lenel/Onguard/Suprema Access Control programming is an added bonus
  • Experience with CCTV, Fire and Intrusion systems would be an added bonus
  • Experience in SQL programming
