Quality Controller and Production Supervisor Jobs in Kenya

Our client an FMCG (paper/plastics/tissues) Company is seeking to recruit competent and vibrant professionals with experience in the following fields;
Quality Controller
Role Overview
The overriding responsibility of the position holder is to make sure the products match the regulatory standards and there is consistent decrease in waste levels at the same time maximizing equipment efficiency and effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide reliable assistance in carrying out Quality Control functions.
  • Discard or reject products and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Inspect, test and sample materials or products and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process adjustments.
  • Visit the factory floor to take samples of products and to discuss problems with production manager.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for production and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Inspect products purchased by the company from suppliers and maintain records of supplier performance.
  • Meet with production leaders to work out root cause of the problem and to decide whether current processes need to be changed.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  • B.Sc. in Biochemistry/Diploma in a related field from a recognized institution
  • 2-3 years hands-on experience in tissue paper/paper/plastics manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of Quality Control and standard procedures.
  • Knowledge in dealing with raw material for tissue paper manufacture.
  • Understand the dynamics of production processes.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing industry is an added advantage.
Production Supervisor  
Role Overview
The overriding responsibility of the position holder is planning to ensure targets are met, coordinating and supervising production processes and ensuring that high quality products are made in a clean environment with strict safety precautions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly Production Plan based on forecast and ensure no stock outs.
  • Co-ordinate and control production staff.
  • Meetings with Management
  • Prepare requisitions for Raw Materials and Packages as per production requirement and ensure availability of the same at time of use. Sign after receiving as per request.
    (NOTE: No changes to be made after request is sent/ question incase request different from given RM)
  • Prepare requisition for FG to WH3 after confirming physical production on floor (to be done first thing in the morning).
  • Prepare Returns and reject requisition for Raw material to WH1 and WH2 respectively.
  • Reconcile the Jumbo with logs produced then to FG produced.
  • Ensure that machine full capacity is utilized (OEE)
  • Enforcement of Safety Regulations
  • Work closely with maintenance team to ensure that machines are running efficiently
  • Sustain quality of products
  • Check Packers, Operators and machine performance on a daily basis.
  • Take daily actions to ensure targets are met and no re-occurring problems
  • Initiate and assist workers to achieve their goals and save costs.
  • Conduct Operator’s regular reviews.
  • Conduct Standard Work Audits for Operators and packers & ensure sustenance.
  • Input production data into the production data system and ensure proper production records are kept
  • Issue required stationery to production staff.
  • Assignment of duties to production staff
  • Establish and / or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Handle injury procedures
  • Prevent losses in the entire Manufacturing Process

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  • Bachelors/Diploma in Production Management
  • 2-3 years hands-on experience in tissue paper/paper/plastics manufacturing industry
