Job Title: Security Manager

Overall purpose of the job is to: Manage security related matters through co-formulation and enforcement of security policies and procedures, advising management on various security pertinent issues and best practice and guiding staff on security concerns.
University Degree in Business Administration (preferred) or Diploma in security with law knowledge (armed forces, police or CID Training);
Computer literacy and report writing skills;
At least ten years relevant experience in security field;
Five years’ experience in a similar position with an multi-national organization;
Be a member of SHE pillar and crisis management committee;
Manage, maintain, review and enhance the organizations security by ensuring that all physical security measures are intact and effective;
Keep abreast of all security developments or risks that may affect the organization;
Develop and review security policy and procedure guidelines on a need basis;
Create an incident reporting process to track incident trends and develop effective responses based on incident root causes;
Manage all security contracts through clear and measurable service level agreements together with the Supplier Manager;
Conduct investigations into all reported cases against the organization’s property and employees involving thefts, losses, damages, injuries, assaults, complaints, work related or traffic accidents affecting company vehicles;
Act on all information and intelligence reports with the aim of safeguarding organizational interests and ensure timely communication of pertinent security information to staff;
Ensure accurate, frequent monitoring of security incidences which includes frequent inspection of the premises and performs random inspection visits, outside office hours, to detect any dereliction of duty;
Prepare a sound safety, fire response procedures and safety training schedule for both offices to ensure full awareness and compliance safety policies;
Ensure that fire equipment are well maintained and in good working condition all the time and coordinate fire drills and mock drills as per the schedule;
Coordinate activities in case of a crisis or a catastrophe involving the organizations business activities and attend to emergency issues and update the Human Resource Director accordingly and promptly;
Support on planning and efficient utilization of the security budget and resources
Facilitate security audit implementation and ensure audit recommendation implementation and supervise security improvement initiatives such as electronic, security company reviews;
Assess security position and propose and budget for security enhancement initiatives.
Liaise with governmental and non-governmental organs, i.e. police, local administration, courts for assistance in handling security issues within the institute and its surroundings.
Participate in security exchange forums to acquire knowledge and exchange best practice with other security professionals in the various industries such as Kenya Association of
Provide security technical advice toward coordinating of appropriate security training for staff,
Emergency/Security Response Team, Management and Security Officers.
Create an ongoing security awareness/education program that is rolled-out in new employee induction process and on-going sensitization with existing employees.
Must be conversant and experienced with alarms, access control equipment, CCTV, and other more sophisticated technology-based security systems.
